Men’s health and wellbeing matters and as we celebrate Men’s Health Week from June 10th to 16th, 2024, it is the perfect time to shed light on an often-overlooked topic: men’s mental health. This week is dedicated to raising awareness about men’s health challenges, particularly mental well-being. For many men, acknowledging and seeking help for mental health issues can be daunting, especially if they have never done so before. This blog aims to provide a friendly and knowledgeable guide to understanding and improving men’s mental health.

The Impact of Childhood and Parenting on men’s mental health

Our childhood experiences and the way we are parented significantly shape our mental health as adults. Many men grow up expecting to be strong, stoic, and self-reliant. These societal norms can discourage emotional expression and vulnerability. Boys taught to suppress their feelings may carry these habits into adulthood, leading to unresolved emotional issues.

In today’s digital age, social media significantly shapes our perceptions of ourselves and others. The pressure to appear successful, happy, and perfect can be overwhelming for men.
